This park is managed and maintained by volunteers.
You can help!

The Parks Department of the City of Dunwoody handles some of the day-to-day maintenance of the park; the rest is up to volunteers. There are many ways you can pitch in to show your appreciation and support. To volunteer for a particular task or for more information, email INFO@BROOKRUNDOGPARK.COM.

Here are some of the tasks that volunteers perform in order to keep our park safe and fun for the dogs (oh, yeah, and the humans, too):

Donations

Like any volunteer group, we need donations of money as well as donations of time and physical labor. We appreciate monetary donations to help with maintenance costs (hosting of this website, making signs for the park, purchasing poop bags and trash can liners, etc). See the bottom of this page to find out how to donate. BRDPA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, so your donations are tax deductible.

Anyone who owns lawn furniture that would be suitable for a dog park is encouraged to contact us to ensure the donated furniture will be acceptable for our needs. We can also use more trash cans throughout the park. However, we have certain requirements for trash cans, so please contact us for specifics. Email us at: INFO@BROOKRUNDOGPARK.COM

Clean-Up Days

Volunteers are invited to join us for Clean-Up Day each month (except Nov. and Dec. when the leaf cover on the ground makes finding poop very difficult) when we gather to clean up the park. Volunteers are provided with rubber gloves and trash bags, and we simply walk through the entire park, picking up stray poop, tennis balls, and human trash.

We do not typically close the park during clean-ups, and volunteers are invited to bring their dogs along.

  • During the cold months, Clean-Up Days are held on the last Saturday of the month at 10 a.m.
  • During the warm months, Clean-Up is held on the last Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
Announcements about Clean-Up Day are always found on our website, in our monthly newsletter, and on our Facebook page, and signs are posed at the park, as well.

Bucket Duty

Volunteers take turns making sure that the two dirty water pans at the water stations in the dog park are swapped out for two clean ones on a weekly basis. Bucket Duty volunteers must see to it that the pans are swapped out at least once a week for one month. To volunteer for one month of Bucket Duty, contact INFO@BROOKRUNDOGPARK.COM. (Good news: The new water pans are small enough to fit in a dishwasher.)

Rules Enforcement

It is vital that we obey the city's rules. The rules are posted on the gate at the main entrance. (For a full list of the park's Rules and Regulations, click here.)
It's surprising how many people walk right past and never notice the rules, so there are occasional infringements. NOTE: The rules posted at the entrance are not rules made up by the dog park association; they are actual laws of the City of Dunwoody.

The most crucial issue is poop pick-up. As the number of visitors to the park increases dramatically each year, there is way too much poop being left on the ground. Park visitors can help out by being observant and letting other dog owners know when and where their dogs are making a mess. And if you see poop, please pick it up and dispose of it properly, even if it's not your dog's!

The second most critical rule is no food inside the park; this includes dog treats. Please help us prevent dog fights or human injuries.
